Lyme Treatment: Try Phyllanthus niruri Tea or Extract

Lyme Treatment: Try Phyllanthus niruri Tea, Powder, or Extract

Lyme treatment is complex. I suffered from Lyme for four years before I discovered Phyllanthus niruri tea.

We get lots of emails from people suffering from Lyme disease and people caring for family members suffering from Lyme. Many people share their personal stories. Others have questions about our company, our flagship product, Phyllanthus niruri, and the health benefits of drinking Phyllanthus niruri tea.

A common theme in the emails we see: Lyme treatment with antibiotics alone is often ineffective. Battling Lyme disease can exhaust your mind, your body, your spirit, and your pocketbook. And once you’re symptom free, you definitely want to stay that way.

Here’s a question we recently received:

I’m considering taking Phyllanthus niruri to address my Lyme disease. I’m almost symptom-free after 2 years of antibiotics, but I want to clear Lyme out fully. You said you no longer have Lyme. Can you please explain if you have taken repeated proper tests and if they were consistently negative or if you’re just symptom-free.

It’s a great question, one that deserves a thoughtful response.

Why Lyme Treatment Is So Complicated

The Lyme disease pathogen, Borrelia burgdorferi, is very good at colonizing host tissues and counteracting a host’s immune defense mechanisms. In some cases, it can persist even after antibiotic treatment. Borrelia burgdorferi survives using stealth strategies. If it were a fighter jet, its stealth tech would be the equivalent to the most advanced jets flying today.

(Learn about Borrelia burgdorferi’s stealth strategies (immunosuppression, variation, physical seclusion, and secreted factors) and how Phyllanthus niruri may help defeat them.)

Armed with these weapons of stealth pathology, the Lyme spirochete is a formidable infectious agent. Phyllanthus niruri neutralizes or disarms many of the agent’s weapons, leaving the spirochete vulnerable to the power of the body’s immune response.

In addition, Phyllanthus niruri goes one step further to assist the body’s healthy response – it has been shown to block both DNA and RNA transferase. Essentially, the Phyllanthus niruri may be able to stop the spirochete from replicating. Blocking or slowing the replication of the spirochete can diminish the bacterial load to a level that doesn’t overwhelm the body’s defenses.

Lyme Support from Phyllanthus niruri

I’ve shared my personal story of battling Lyme disease. I fought Lyme using prescribed antibiotics for nearly four years without success. My Lyme treatment included blood tests every two months and almost four years of consistent, positive results. My last course of antibiotics was intra-muscular penicillin. This was after having a PICC line removed.

About nine years ago I discovered Phyllanthus niruri (also known as Chanca Piedra). From the outset, I was excited to learn about Phyllanthus niruri’s reputation as an antibacterial, antiviral, anti-plasmodial plant used in traditional medicine to attack the spirochete that causes syphilis. I began drinking Phyllanthus niruri tea and was free of Lyme within 90 days.

To confirm that I was free of Lyme disease, I continued to follow up with my doctor for Lyme treatment and testing. Not only have my tests consistently been negative, but I have remained symptom free with no relapses.

To be clear, I am not claiming that Phyllanthus killed the Lyme pathogen. No studies will support such a claim. However, I am convinced that the tea supported my immune system and interacted with the Lyme pathogen in ways that allowed my body to clear the infection. The more I learned about Phyllanthus niruri, the more I appreciated the actions of its phytoconstituents and the support it can offer to the body’s immune system.

In full disclosure, it took time for my body and brain to fully recover. I had neuro-Lyme, Lyme induced arthritis, and muscle weakness. It was nearly a year after my negative test, for example, before my right shoulder returned to full strength. While this is my personal story, it’s backed by science. (Type “Phyllanthus niruri” into the National Institutes of Health search engine to get a hint of the extensive research on this amazing plant.)
