Cryptolepis sanguinolenta is a medicinal plant native to West Africa.The plant’s bioactive compounds, such as cryptolepine, have been found to possess strong antimicrobial properties, making it a promising natural alternative to conventional antimicrobial agents.

Cryptolepis has traditionally been used to support treatment of malaria and Babesia, which is a tick-borne infection. One study explored the effectiveness of Cryptolepis against the parasite responsible for malaria.
